Kpopalypse roundup – new k-pop releases 10/8/2020

It’s time for Kpopalypse roundup!  Let’s take a look at some new releases!

If Mina’s looking for something to do to keep her mind off depressing negative thoughts, I think she should do what I used to do when life was shitting me off and join another band. Playing bass in bands is cool, the parts are pretty easy in most rock songs, you get all the girls/boys, and if someone tries to bully you you’ve got a 5 foot long weapon in your hand you can slap them back with.  One well-aimed hit with one of those butterfly-style tuning pegs is enough to give a bitch a hospital visit, don’t ask me how I know this.

It’s time for Kpopalypse roundup!  Let’s check out some new releases!

The problem with dialing the police in Australia on a rotary phone like the one in this image is that the number for police here is 000 and that takes ages to call because the rotary dial has to spin all the way around for each digit. Fortunately in Korea it’s 112 which is a lot more viable and saves precious seconds as I’m sure Yellowbee’s Ari found out recently.

It’s time for Kpopalypse roundup!  Let’s take a look at some new releases!

These days to be in a k-pop controversy you don’t even need to DO anything, it just needs to be someone that you know. Imagine if you could get embroiled in career shit like NCT’s Yuta just because of what one of your friends did. Wouldn’t that make you the biggest cunt of a friend ever, you’d be running around all the time in complete paranoia: “don’t say/do x, you’ll make me look bad!” Of course we all know what friends are like – that type of request would obviously inspire them to act up even more just to fuck with you. I can’t imagine all the shitty things my “friends” would have done on purpose just for laughs when I was younger if they knew I was going to be the one to cop all the shit for it.

It’s time for Kpopalypse roundup!  Let’s check out some new releases!

Remember how I said the other week that unless the systemic problems with bullying and power relationships in the k-pop world are prioritised over cancelling some individual’s career, that there will always be another Jimin, and everyone cried and shat their pants? Well sur-fuckin-prise, cunts, it’s happening again, and it will absolutely continue to happen.  Cancelling the bully and then saying “well that’s all fixed, then” is like putting a band-aid on a leg amputation.

It’s time for Kpopalypse roundup!  Let’s check out some new releases!

Hate on Jimin all you want, but as long as people keep the focus on her rather than the system that allowed (and probably encouraged) her to pick on Mina for an entire decade, there will always be another Jimin. As long as people continue to play cancel-culture whack-a-mole instead of dealing with the larger issue, nothing will ever change.

It’s time for Kpopalypse roundup – let’s check out some new releases!

Remember in 2012 when everyone cared about crucifying T-ara for “bullying” that didn’t exist, meanwhile a CEO of a completely different company was forcing his boy groups to rape trainees and nobody gave a damn? We’re about to have that again folks, as producer Dandi is busted for classy-sexiness but nobody will notice the implications or the oddly high line-up rotations of all the projects he’s been associated with because they’re too busy caring about whether Twice can sing or not.  Hmm.
