It’s the final part of the 2022 Kpopalypse Objectification Survey results! Who are the most attractive k-pop idols for 2022, according to Kpopalypse readers? Let’s take a look!

The last part of the Kpopalypse 2022 Objectification Survey is essentially the “face” category, where we take a look at the most attractive men and women in k-pop according to Kpopalypse readers!  This section of the results is therefore completely politically correct and not objectifying or sexualising anybody whatsoever, because we all know that saying a boob is pretty is a very sexual statement, but saying a face is pretty is not sexual at all!  Many Kpopalypse readers enjoyed being TC Candler for a day, let’s take a look at how they voted!

As per last year, voters were asked to choose up to three nominees in each category, best first, and points were allocated as per the following system:

• Your first choice was weighted 100% higher than your second choice
• Your second choice was weighted 66% higher than your third choice
• If you doubled or tripled on choices, only the first choice was counted
• Choices after the third were disregarded in all cases

Scores were then tallied to give the final results across all categories.

Remember folks – that if you object to any of the choices here, you only have yourselves to blame as these were 100% your votes, not mine.  Kpopalypse does not even cast a vote – this isn’t like a rigged Korean TV show where the “judges” get a say and can overturn fan opinion.  If you want to see a certain result, then it’s your responsibility to spread the surveys to the people who are going to vote for your faves!

MOST ATTRACTIVE WOMEN IN K-POP

#1 – KARINA – AESPA

249 points

(2021 position – #18)

It’s tough to dethrone a number one – people who get there tend to stick around, and no other categories in the Kpopalypse objectification survey saw any movement at the top position.  This all changed in the most attractive women category, where aespa’s Karina rocketed up from eighteenth place the previous year to snatch the crown!

#2 – IRENE – RED VELVET

230 points

(2021 position – #1)

While Red Velvet’s Irene was knocked out of the top spot, it was by a pretty small margin, and Irene hung onto a confident second place, with plenty of Kpopalypse readers feeling her rhythm this year.

#3 – SANA – TWICE

218 points

(2021 position – #2)

Twice’s Sana also dropped a spot this year due to the invasion of forces from planet Kwangya, but her and other Twice members remained enduringly popular in the voting this year!

#4 – IU

How did IU gain a place this year?  By being more attractive than your bias, that’s how.  It’s also possible that Annie bribed some of you – while some cheat duplicate votes were removed across all voting categories this year, receiving a bribe from Annie is not technically counted as cheating.

#5 – JIHYO – TWICE

Jihyo has always been a big feature of the objectification survey in other categories, but in the most attractive section she’s recently been climbing year after year.  Plenty of Twice activity plus some well-chosen fashions helped Jihyo stand out from the pack even more than usual.

#6 – JOY – RED VELVET

133 points

(2021 position – #4)

Last year, almost half of the picture status candidates retained their exact same spot from the previous year.  In 2022, charts were much more chaotic and no female entrants are in the same place that they were in 2021.  Red Velvet’s Joy dropped a couple spots but still remains very relevant to Kpopalypse surveydoers!

#7 – MINA – TWICE

When you read Kpopalypse polls you’ve got to get used to Twice members appearing a lot.  Mina always performs well and her sharp style gained her a couple placings for 2022.

#8 – EUNHA – VIVIZ

117 points

(2021 position – #26)

The transition from Gfriend to Viviz allowed Eunha to make a big impact on readers, as she firmly ascends into the k-pop visual A-list.  Judging by Viviz’ career trajectory we can probably expect Eunha visual domination to continue through the k-pop world, so expect to see her poll well in future surveys!

Did I mention that when you read Kpopalypse polls you’ve got to get used to Twice members appearing a lot?  Anyway, here’s Momo, and enjoy the acrostic poem by Jeongyeon in the video who didn’t even make the honourable mentions this year, clearly unacceptable voting from you lot, I’m off to write a letter to my local member of parliament about it…

#10 – YVES – LOONA

Yves slipped a couple places in the polls but retains her status as Loona’s flagship visual and person who Chuu would rather have gay sex with the most. 

#11 – JENNIE – BLACKPINK

113 points

(2021 position – #10)

Despite their high profile in the k-pop world as influencers and models who occasionally also do music sometimes, Blackpink largely struck out in the polls this year.  Still, nothing could dislodge Jennie from picture status in the most attractive category!

#12 – TZUYU – TWICE

97 points

(2021 position – #3)

A big dive for Tzuyu in a category where she normally dominates above her groupmates, I’m not sure what happened here, perhaps the voting was compromised by Chinese spies.  Anyway, Taiwan is still a country and Tzuyu is still relevant to Kpopalypse polls, even with an entire dictatorship working against her she still managed to chart in picture status!

A big move up for Loona’s Heejin as she ascends into picture status for the first time, and rounds out this year’s most attractive females category!

MOST ATTRACTIVE MEN IN K-POP

#1 – WONHO – EX-MONSTA X

There once was a time when other men besides Wonho did quite well in the Kpopalypse objectification survey.  However that time is not now, and Wonho scoops the #1 position in all categories in which he is eligible, for the second year running!

#2 – SHINDONG – SUPER JUNIOR

Holding only second place by just a single point, Super Junior’s Shindong barely retains his placing.  Never let it be said that your vote doesn’t count – especially if it’s a vote for the Dong!

#3 – KAI – EXO

EXO’s Kai also managed to hang onto his place from last year, proving to be an enduring favourite and beating out many newcomers!

#4 – TAEHYUNG – BTS

Kpopalypse readers also couldn’t resist BTS’s Taehyung, who gained a couple placings.  Who knows, he might start collecting even more votes now that his group are on hiatus and he has a chance for a break for some health improvement.  Perhaps he’ll hit the gym to make an attempt to topple Wonho’s reign?

Where did this come from?  The biggest shock of the entire survey – Seventeen’s Mingyu shot up from absolutely buttfuck nowhere last year to score fifth position in 2022!  I’m not sure what he did to ingratiate himself to Kpopalypse readers so heavily, but whatever he’s doing is definitely working.

Astro’s Eunwoo keeps climbing year after year, and this time he ranked sixth overall – how high will he go in future years?

NCT’s Haechan had big performance consistently across all categories in the male results this year and is definitely another name to watch.

Hyunjin from Stray Kids has been doing well for quite some time in the survey results, and 2022 proves to be another good year for him as he gains another place.

There’s always plenty of room for second-generation k-pop stars in the Kpopalypse poll results, and SHINee’s Taemin proves that he definitely still has what it takes to impress, as he shoots up into picture status for 2022!

A performer new to picture status, Stray Kids’ Felix improved vastly on last year’s placing and managed to grab tenth spot.

EXO’s D.O couldn’t replicate his very impressive performance from 2021, but he still managed a very respectable 11th place in a race where the numbers were very close!

Jaehyun from NCT was another performer who saw quite a dip in votes compared to the previous year, but still retained coveted picture status for 2022!
