These days to be in a k-pop controversy you don’t even need to DO anything, it just needs to be someone that you know. Imagine if you could get embroiled in career shit like NCT’s Yuta just because of what one of your friends did. Wouldn’t that make you the biggest cunt of a friend ever, you’d be running around all the time in complete paranoia: “don’t say/do x, you’ll make me look bad!” Of course we all know what friends are like – that type of request would obviously inspire them to act up even more just to fuck with you. I can’t imagine all the shitty things my “friends” would have done on purpose just for laughs when I was younger if they knew I was going to be the one to cop all the shit for it.

Remember how I said the other week that unless the systemic problems with bullying and power relationships in the k-pop world are prioritised over cancelling some individual’s career, that there will always be another Jimin, and everyone cried and shat their pants? Well sur-fuckin-prise, cunts, it’s happening again, and it will absolutely continue to happen.  Cancelling the bully and then saying “well that’s all fixed, then” is like putting a band-aid on a leg amputation.

If your label ran with this as a promotional photo even though you were supposed to be in a “rock band” you’d be mad at your CEO too.

Hate on Jimin all you want, but as long as people keep the focus on her rather than the system that allowed (and probably encouraged) her to pick on Mina for an entire decade, there will always be another Jimin. As long as people continue to play cancel-culture whack-a-mole instead of dealing with the larger issue, nothing will ever change.
