Kpopalypse roundup – new k-pop releases 27/11/2017

It’s time once again for Kpopalypse roundup!  Let’s check out some new releases!

Scan-dol of the week – Blackpink

Pentagon – Runaway

If I knew these guys were going to join the trop-slop trend I would have been a lot harsher on them in my KCON review.

Pentagon – Violet

Oh well, at least their other song is something different, even if it sucks.

KARD – You In Me

Speaking of which, what the fuck are KARD actually going to do with themselves when tropical shithouse stops being a thing.

Wanna One – Beautiful

So this is very nice and smooth and not what I want out of k-pop at all.

Nell & Groovyroom – Today

A music video as interesting as Nell and Groovyroom themselves.

Dok2 – Crazy

The only thing that’s crazy about Dok2 is how he thinks his audience have enough attention span to watch six minutes of him.

Map6 – Love Is Gone

A lot of songs are now squirting out the tropical shit in the intro or in really subtle ways so you don’t even notice, and then just getting on with a completely different type of song.

BONUS SONGS

Snuper – Dear

The audio for this one didn’t arrive in time for the radio show, but then neither did the songwriting team by the sounds of it, so no great loss.

UV ft. Choiza – Za Bro

There’s a great song in here which probably needed to be played at twice the speed.

Monday Kiz, Kim Bokyung – White Dress

A completely typical ballad like any other, only really notable for the lack of a white dress anywhere in the video.

DinoSoul – Won’t Hate You

It’s water and sand, folks.  Not too fascinating, really.  The only reason why people surf in Australia and risk shark attacks is they’d die of boredom otherwise.

In The Night Of Seokyo – Sad Winter

She looks bored, gosh, can’t imagine why.

Microdot ft. Times x Two – Goal

There have actually been a few decent rap songs this year.  This isn’t one of them.

Kwak Jin Eon – Remains

Oh god.

Acacy ft. Olnl – Summer

Please can we stop with the random ass alphabet soup names than you.

Mandy ft. Terry – Don’t Worry

This isn’t even a song, it’s just a Rhodes shop demonstration.

Dumfoundead – Every Last Drop

Why is Dumbfoundead always so shit.  Doesn’t he speak perfect English and hang out in America and stuff, how can he not know what rap music is.  Oh wait.

Honeyst – Someone To Love

When the intro faded out I was like “cool, that stupid acoustic intro is gone, time for the REAL song”, and then I waited.  And then the same intro came back again.  Fuuuuuuck.

d.ear & Jaehyun – Try Again

If you’re not bored enough by this week’s dud songs, here you go.  Try to not yawn, seriously, I bet you can’t.

Today’s Hot Song – Eiffel Tower Effect

They’re just asking for a pun here but I’m so sleepy now that I can’t even think of any.

SPECIAL RETRO BONUS SONG

Sahon – Choice Of Slaves

After all that boring shit, I need some waking up.  This will do nicely.

That’s all for this week – more Kpopalypse roundup next week!
